Why investsilvermalaysia.com, not investgoldmalaysia.com?

Before I begin, I believes those who bumped to my blog would have at least know a salt pinch on precious metals. If you do not have any idea on precious metals, I would recommend you to watch the following four minutes video. The video will give you a quick 101 crash-course on the importance of investing in precious metals today.

Moving forward, I trust that you too would know precious metals includes not only gold and silver but platinum, palladium, rhodium, mercury and a few others. Aluminum was once a precious metal too when it was more difficult to extract it from ore compared to gold back in 1880s. With that, whenever I refer precious metals or in short, PM, I am specifically referring to Gold and Silver only. For now, I do not have interest in platinum (apart that that’s what my wedding ring was made of) or palladium (to be honest, I have no idea what it does) or titanium (which make a good bicycle frame) or any other precious metals – at least until further notice.

Now, back to the question – why am I writing under investsilvermalaysia.com and not investgoldmalaysia.com. I owned both the domain.

I too, started off my journey in buying gold. After jumping into the bandwagon of chasing the gold pot at the end of the rainbow, I realized that there isn’t much to do in investing in gold. This is especially true, in Malaysia. I have decided that I will only invest in physical gold bullion coins and as to date, I am comfortably buying coins at the counter of UOB main branch in Jalan Raja Laut. It offers the lowest available spread in the market. Maybank which sells Bank Negara’s Kijang Emas offers bullion coins at slightly higher rate. You can check Bank Negara’s rate at this link: http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=12&pg=141.

That’s it! All the thing that you ever needed to know about buying gold bullion in Malaysia is covered within 1 paragraph.

Then I started switching my antenna towards the pros of silver over gold. I was immediately turned on by it’s potential and started looking into investing silver in Malaysian market. To my surprise, there aren’t much about investing silver in Malaysia! The closest I got from typing “invest silver malaysia” in google was getting me to Lowyat’s forum. I do came across a few online materials discussing about silver in Malaysia but that’s about it. In comparison to gold, I get hundreds of localized search result. This ain’t the song for silver.

Not only silver is undervalued (42 oz over 1 oz of gold as I speak), I reckon that it’s also under recognized in Malaysia. Because it’s under recognized here, this also means that there will be plenty of content needed to be built. Hence, I am fired up to start a blog on the topic. Also, content on gold is just about everywhere. There is no need for another blog talking about it. My mum in her 60s now too have her share of opinion on gold. However, when I asked about silver, she wonders why am I talking to her on cutlery.

I strongly feel that most of the content available locally here are just low quality cut and paste work. My goal for investsilvermalaysia.com is to provide as many quality localized content as possible. I am not a professional financier or trader so to speak. I left university as a Software Engineer. I invites you to walk with me on my route to double my bank via investment in precious metals. I hope my writings would triple yours.

With that, stay hungry and happy investing.

Cheers.
